About John Burrows

John Burrows grew up in the moving industry, starting by sweeping warehouses and conducting surveys for the family business while still in high school. In 1992, Richard DeWitt invited John to help expand the family business and manage DeWitt Guam. Over the past 30 years, John has held numerous roles within the moving industry and has developed extensive expertise in moving to, from, and within Guam. Today, he serves as the Chairman of the International Association of Movers, the world’s largest organization for movers, advocating for moving businesses of all sizes and locations. Guam Buildup News and Updates

The Guam Buildup is Unofficially Underway. Construction projects for the Guam buildup have begun. The buildup will provide support facilities for the relocation of approximately 5,000 Marines and their families from Okinawa, Japan. The massive, gradual relocation operation will create 20 years worth of population growth in Guam over the course of five years and result in an investment of more than $23.9 billion according to some estimates. Q&A: SOLAS VGM Equivalency

Q: What is the reason for the VGM amendments to SOLAS regulation VI/2? A: There are concerns around improperly declaring the gross mass of a packed container. Safety risks emerge if discrepancies between gross mass and actual gross mass go unnoticed.
